4/22/2014 3:45:13 PM

On April 21st, the second session of the court in the case of the killer of FSB and double agent of Russian and Georgian intelligence nicknamed Zona (a native of Chechnya Ali Dabuyev aka Ruslan Papaskiri aka Temur Makhauri) took place in Istanbul.

It is to be noted that the FSB killer Zona is accused of murdering the representative of the Caucasus Emirate abroad Ali Osayev (aka Musa Atayev) on February 26, 2009 in Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district (see video), as well as involvement in other murders of Chechens in Turkey.

The court heard the testimony of witnesses Vakha Umarov, Sahin Ertugrul and Imran Abdulazimov. Some witnesses were not present at the court hearing and the judge ordered the police to bring them in for the next meeting on June 5th.

Responding to questions from the judge, Vakha Umarov confirmed that records of video surveillance cameras shows Zona (Temir Makhauri). Mr. Umarov said that he had known Zona for more than 10 years and he has no doubt that the video of the murder recorded the above-mentioned person (Zona).

He also said that in his time, Shamil Basayev gave refugees in Turkey 128,000 dollars through Zona, but Zona had stolen the money. Ali Osayev demanded Zona to return the stolen cash.

Vakha Umarov also said that Zona had offered, through a friend, to perform a contract killing in order to get the amount of money he had stolen written off.

The witness pointed out that Zona was not only the Georgian intelligence agent (officially confirmed), but has for a long time worked for the Russian FSB. He reported that Ali Dabuyev (Zona) was captured by Russian invaders in Chechnya as part of a group of 5 people. However, only Zona turned up alive and well in Georgia, while the fate of the other 4 prisoners unknown.

The testimony at the trial was also made by the murder witness Sahin Ertugrul. He told the judge that he could not clearly see the killer's face, because he was wearing a wig. But Zona, who was sitting in the dock, was very similar to the man whom he had seen.

Sahin Ertugrul also confirmed that the killer was probably Chechen because he had heard that the killer at the time of the murder said, "a few words in their language".

The witness reported that he saw the killer came out of the black BMW and ran back to the car after the shooting.

Member of the human rights organization IMKANDER, Imran Abdulazimov, also a witness, told the judge that he had no doubt that the video surveillance cameras recorded Zona himself.

He told the court that Ali Osayev planned to open an independent Caucasian Committee to assist the Caucasus Chechen refugees in Turkey, and perhaps this could have been one of the reasons for his murder.

It is to be noted that the well-known Turkish humanitarian organization IHH actively supports Zona and provides legal aid to him.

Ufuk Kalkan, the lawyer of the killer, told the court that Zona had an alibi, because he was not in Turkey at the time of the murder but on the Georgian airplane.

In response, the counsel of the victims Omer Yuzgul indicated that the killer had several passports and using these arguments of the defense cannot be taken seriously.

The court decided to carry out special expertise of existing photos and videos, and requested additional documents from Ataturk Airport from 26 to 28 February 2009.

The next court hearing will be held on June 5, 2014.

Murat Ozer, one of the leaders of Turkish human rights organization IMKANDER, who monitors the murder case of Chechens in Istanbul, said at the conclusion of the second court session that it had been for the first time that in Turkey, a member of Russian security services was tried and that government is not to interfere with the court so it could be an independent trial and it should bring brought to an end the important matter for the security of the state (see video).
