INDULGING ENEMY. Obama promises Ukraine military-technical assistance to measly $ 23 million
6/4/2014 8:38:48 PM
Obama and the new president of Ukraine Poroshenko held in Warsaw first bilateral meeting. After the meeting, it was announced that the US will provide military aid to Ukraine only on $ 23 million: body armors, night vision devices, as well as additional communications equipment.
Earlier, US senators demanded from Obama to provide effective military aid to a new, democratic Ukraine.
Instead, Obama limited by rhetoric, calling the election of Poroshenko as president of Ukraine "a wise choice of the people" in difficult times and assured him in support by the US authorities.
Along the way, Obama admired at insight of Poroshenko and his vision of economic issues facing Ukraine. However, this flattery had no effect on the amount allocated to the government of Poroshenko by America for military needs.
On June 4, during the new negotiations was discussed Russian-Ukrainian war and ways to resolve it, as well as plans to reduce the volatility of Ukraine from Putin's Russia.
Obama urged the international community to support Poroshenko, including through assistance in the preparation of Ukrainian security services and the military.
On the eve Obama and Poroshenko already had their first meeting in Warsaw, it was also attended by the Lithuanian president and three other world leaders.
In turn, the Western media reported that Barack Obama said that he condemns the "dark tactics" and "aggression" Russia in the east of Ukraine. According to him, further provocation by Moscow would only mean continued isolation.
"After investing so much blood and treasure to bring Europe together, how can we allow the dark tactics of the 20th century to define this new century?", Obama said in his speech to the Poles in Warsaw.
He reiterated that the United States does not accept the annexation of Crimea by the Russian authorities.
Obama also pledged strong support for all NATO members, who feel threatened by Russia..
