Sources in Syria reported that during the fighting on July 2 to 3, 2014 Ad Dawla al-Islamiyya/Islamic State (IS) units (former Ad Dawla al-Islamiyya fi al-Iraq wa ash-Sham/Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), which declared the caliphate) knocked out the units of Jabhat an-Nusra/Victory Front (VF) from two settlements in the province of Deir ez-Zor.
The IS took control of villages Mayadeen and Shuhail near the border with Iraq. IS units previously captured the border town of al-Bukamal.
According to sources, the IS actively uses against VF heavy weapons captured from Shiites after their escape from Mosul.
It also reported that IS fighters captured the largest oil field of Syria on the border with Iraq.
Earlier, this territory was controlled by the VF. Now the IS keeps most of gas and oil fields of the province of Deir ez-Zor.
It is to be recalled that the VF recaptured from the infidels the oil field Al-Omar last November.
Meanwhile, IS troops defeated by Jaish al-Islam/Army of Islam (AI) of Zahran Alloush in the suburbs of Damascus in eastern Ghouta. On July 2, IS units were knocked out from the town of Marj al-Sultan, and before that, they were forced to retreat from the town of Midaa. IS units are now concentrated near the town of Adra.
Meanwhile, a Shiite TV channel in Lebanon, Al-Manar, reported that in battles with the IS, Emir AI Zahran Alloush had been wounded. There have been no comments so far from the AI on the injury of its leader.
