STRANGE WAR. Ukrainian factories continue to supply military equipment to Russia for Russian army
8/18/2014 11:30:30 PM
Ukrainian factories continue to supply equipment for the Russian army: in spite of the seizure of Crimea by Russia and the invasion of Russian special gangs and military in the east of the country. Ukrainian factories are sending to Russia parts for airplanes, helicopters and missiles, reports The Washington Post.
At the same time the Ukrainian authorities explain these criminal acts, in fact, by ridiculous excuses, saying that the workers of the defense companies do not agree to stop the supply the Russian army, which is fighting against Ukraine and is killing Ukrainians from the weapons that these defense plants factories supply Russians.
The Washington Post, pointing to a strong "interdependence" of the military-industrial complex of the two countries, dating back to the Soviet past, writes that despite the fact that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in June of this year issued a presidential order to stop the export of defense products to Russia, supplies to Russia are continuing since "the factory managers say they have not formally been told to halt their shipments".
This wonderful absurdity Kiev explained by the fact that "after nine months of protest and war, Ukraine's economy is deep into recession, and it can ill afford to lose jobs, particularly in the key eastern industrial regions that are home to many of the defense plants", writes The Washington Post.
According to journalists, the Motor Sich factory produces nearly all of the engines used in Russian military and transport helicopters, as well as a majority of the country's transport aircraft engines.
The spokesman of the company Anatoliy Malysh in a conversation with The Washington Post, threatening, said: "We're dependent on Russia. Leaders in Kiev think that national interests are more important than the economy. But let them speak to people who live without jobs".
And at the Yuzhmash factory they complain that the company does not receive new contracts from Russia, because of that the company has slashed pay and cut operations to three days a week.
A senior Ukrainian security official, speaking anonymously, has complained that the refusal to export to Russia allegedly "will mean the death of factories and enterprises".
Meanwhile, as the Ukrainian authorities continue to supply Russia with weapons with help of which Russians are killing Ukrainians and seizing Ukrainian territory, Moscow is already taking steps to substitution of imports from Ukraine. Ukraine gives the Kremlin time and room to maneuver.
So the ringleader of the Russian military gang company Rostek, promised to increase the production of helicopter engines from the current 50 to the required 300-350 per year by 2016. Obviously Ukraine will continue to supply engines to Russia before that date.
Meanwhile, if the Ukrainian Motor Sich cease to supply Russia helicopter engines, Moscow will face serious problems with countries that Russian aircraft is imported. Without Ukrainian engines are unlikely to build necessary for the execution of contracts of helicopters, experts say. (In addition, Russian will not be able to build and repair their helicopters for a war with Ukraine - KC).
In addition, engines are also needed to build military vehicles for the Russian army: by 2020 Russian Air Force should get a thousand helicopters. In addition, the parts required to replace defective engines for helicopters which are already in service.
On June 16, Ukrainian President Poroshenko banned cooperation with Russia in the sphere of military-industrial complex. Experts then noted that the rupture of cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in the sphere of military-industrial complex will suffer only 79 Ukrainian and 859 Russian defense enterprises.
London in March withdrew some of the licenses for the supply to RF of military goods such as cloth, and various forms of small parts for helmets. The sum of these supplies is estimated at 37 million pounds (note that in Britain also demand to impose an embargo on arms supplies to Moscow).
Berlin, in turn, decided to suspend all military cooperation with Russia in March and April of this year. In addition, Germany insisted on the suspension of the construction of a military training center near Nizhny Novgorod (contract amount was 100 million euros).
France has not yet decided to a complete rejection of military cooperation with Russia. Western allies have sought to convince Paris refuse to supply Russian helicopter-carrier Mistral, however, France is afraid of financial losses, which for it is more important than human lives and security of entire nations.
The United States has imposed sanctions against the Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation, which is involved in the transaction for the supply of helicopter-carrier.
