IRAQ. Fighting continue in Iraq. Dam captured near Mosul
8/3/2014 6:09:08 PM

During the fightings between the units of Ad Dawla al-Islamiyya/Islamic State (IS) and the Kurds, the IS recaptured three settlements - Zumar, Wana and Sinjar, located near the border with Syria. Zumar district is rich with oil deposits. Also reported was the capture of a dam near Mosul.

In turn, the commander of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces, D. Yyavar, told reporters that his forces continue to control Zumar. According to him, more Kurdish militants are being transferred from other regions to the fighting zone. However, local sources report that the IS units drove in pickup trucks into Zumar after it was left by the Kurds.
A representative of Iraq's North Oil company said that the field of Ain Zala and 2 deposits - Batma and Sufayya, where prospecting continues, were captured.

Meanwhile, there is information about the suspension of operation at the international airport in Baghdad. The Ministry of Transport of the Shiite regime rejects these news, however, the Jordanian Royal Airlines announced the cancellation of all flights to the Iraqi capital for 24 hours. A similar decision were adopted by the German carrier Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.

The airlines say that there is no clear threat, however, "as a precaution, flights from Iraqi Kurdistan - an autonomous region in northern Iraq with its capital in Arbil - were canceled until Sunday, August 3, 2014".

On August 1, 2014, Federal Aviation Administration of the United States banned American airlines to fly over Iraq at a height of less than 10 km.

The reason for the ban was "a potentially dangerous situation caused by the armed conflict".
Meanwhile, the Baghdad regime continues to purchase Russian weapons. It is reported that Shiites bought from Russians weapons for 1 billion dollars - aircraft, heavy artillery, mortars, armored vehicles and ammunition.
