Lithuanian President: Russia wages war with Europe

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on arrival at an EU summit stated that Russia is waging war with Ukraine, in which Ukraine is "fighting for the whole of Europe". She believes that you need to "expect more" from NATO.
"It is necessary to provide military support and as much as possible sanctions against Russia... Ukraine is fighting for the whole of Europe, so Lithuania is ready to help Ukraine to fight this war, to defend against Russia", Grybauskaite said.

"It is the fact that Russia is in a war state against Ukraine. That means it is in a state of war against a country which would like to be closely integrated with the EU. Practically Russia is in a state of war against Europe".
EU summit is held in Brussels, which will discuss the new package of sanctions against Russia. It is expected that the Commission will charge to prepare a list of measures in different sectors, and sanctions will be imposed if the situation does not improve in Ukraine.
Answering to the question of what Ukraine can realistically expect from the EU, Grybauskaite said:
"Ukraine can expect more just from NATO. EU – it is only economic sanctions".
According to her, Lithuania stands for "complete military embargo" against Russia, "not only the current ban on new (military contracts)."
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Britain next week to announce the creation of new joint expeditionary rapid reaction force of seven NATO countries, including Lithuania. Officially, this should be announced at the NATO summit in Wales on September 4-5.
